Report: Havdis' music featured in new video art project.

Havdis' track Deepsea Dwellers makes a fantastic complement to the video artwork by Edin Velez, in his new project State of Rest and Motion, which is a loving look at the NYC subway system. Truly a deeply mesmerizing outcome.

Plunging into the depths of October

We are in the middle of October, darkness is all around us and the rain and moisture is seldom far away. We huddle inside our homes and cottages, hiding from the elements underthick blankets and lulled into relief through deep and mellow music hinting to the other side. We present two of these albums to you today.

http://gterma021to040.blogspot.se/p/gterma038.html
[gterma038] : Seetyca - Lieder Zum Summen (out now)

Songs for Humming is a very intimate affair, an album in strong symbiosis with the elements. Here are sixteen short songs, somewhat melancholic and almost bordering on the naive. You can feel the chill of the autumn air, smell the humid earth in your hand, taste the decay of fallen leaves. We are used to s. delivering massive dronewalls and deep, hypnotic soundscapes. Here he shows up his contemplative side, with music turning your eyes to drift into the deep blue sky. The album comes in a jewel case with 16-page booklet.

http://gterma021to040.blogspot.se/p/gterma039-jason-sloan-deluge.html
[gterma039] : Jason Sloan - Deluge (out now)

If we have any StillStream fanatics here chances are you might remember this performance, which originally streamed live on the Sadayatana show back in 2011. Although then presented without title, Jason intended for this piece to capture the aftermath of our world after having suffered through a grand deluge. gterma are very happy to bring back to life again this emotional recording. Jason has also kindly composed for us a brand new epilogue which now closes the album. Comes in jewel case with 16-page booklet.

Report: Thor Heyerdahl 100th anniversary

The all-knowing Google today reminded us that 100 years have past since the birth of the esteemed Norwegian adventurer Thor Heyerdahl, the man who conquered the Pacific on his historically inspired raft the Kon-Tiki.

We do a little mini-celebration of our own by playing a related track from the Rano Raraku album, which was released on the netlabel Load & Clear back in 2010.

Exit Summer

Last week's incessant rains have sent a clear message; autumn is here, and yes it is going to stay. Recently we also bid the Swifts a nostalgic farewell as they gathered up their younglings and headed south for the coming winter. As the darkness slowly descends upon us, replacing the glow of the warm evening colours, it is time to crawl back into the studio to begin work on the autumn's releases. Expect to see previews beginning to appear over the coming weeks. Safe journey, fellow travellers.

The long summernights just got a bit darker...

We're halfway through summer here in the northern hemisphere, the city bathes in the golden colours of yet another tranquil evening. Yet somehow we all know the shift has taken place, the days are again doomed to grow shorter and shorter as we once again begin the slow rush toward the dark season. Illustrating this point finely are the brand new albums we have available tonight. Music on the edge between light and darkness, between fantasy and reality, between madness and sanity. The journey continues.

http://gterma021to040.blogspot.se/p/gterma036-urenga-mu-lost-continent.html
[gterma036] : Urenga - Mu (The Lost Continent) (out now)

The world's oceans still jealously guard their many secrets from the prying eyes of our fledgling 21st century civilization. Brave minds remain convinced that unseen lands dwell in the cold depths of the deep waters. A few claim to have visited these places in their dreams. We were amazed to discover a portion of a dusty traveller's journal, telling of one travellers tireless pursuit in heeding the ocean's calling. We invite you to follow in the wake of this dreamlike journey.

http://gterma021to040.blogspot.se/p/gterma040-phra-rahu.html
[gterma040] : V/A - Phra Rahu (out now)

A long time coming, we have worked zealously to present this offering to the dark entity known as Rahu. A vast demigod with a strong worldly influence, Rahu's might is perhaps best illustrated in his devouring of the sun, causing the Earth to sit in his dark shadow. We have assembled this dark mantra from material both new and old, creating a deep tribute featuring several of the profile artists of gterma. Massive double album in a jewel case with 16-page booklet.

http://gterma041to060.blogspot.se/p/gterma041-gleisberg-grassow-ad-lucem.html
[gterma041] : Gleisberg & Grassow - Ad Lucem (out now)

Veterans Rüdiger Gleisberg and Mathias Grassow, who have previously worked together in constellations such as KarmaCosmic and Nostalgia (together with Carsten Agthe), have come together again to create Ad Lucem, an album dedicated to the light and the hope for a better tomorrow. Six deep pieces carefully balancing on a slight penumbra between light and darkness. Comes in a jewel case with 16-page booklet.

Report: Anders Peterson remastering the City Nightlights album

As many of our listeners probably know, A.P has been laying a delicate mastering touch on most of the gterma albums. When Anders is not busying himself with mastering work he also runs his own Ghost Sounds label. Currently he is at work remastering one title from the catalogue, the wonderful and subdued City Nightlights album which has been a longtime gterma favourite. Anders toys with the idea of releasing the updated album with a couple of bonus tracks. For now, he has presented two of the remastered tracks on the Ghost Sounds soundcloud page. This music was made for late night listening sessions.

Report: "Quale" released by Arjen Schat

Arjen Schat recently released a new album titled "Quale" on his own Bandcamp page. Lately, we've mostly been seeing activity under his Ohrwehrt alias, so it was great to get a new deep ambient piece to dive into, and not without with a little bit of extra anticipation I might say. Quale consists of a near hour long track which is also available in an alternate version.

Report: Sulphur part VIII released on Otium Netlabel

http://otium.ru/releases/?id=148#.UzgIac4-oa0
Appearing once more, now in its eight incarnation, is the latest effort in the long running "Sulphur" series from collaborators Etheocles Stevens and Seetyca. Sulphur part eight, subtitled Endless, follows the tradition of deep and dark soundworlds of a colossal and intense mangitude. gterma veterans who took a liking to the Seetyca album The Luminous Deep will find much illumination in this dark eigth episode. If you are not yet familiar with Sulphur I do recommend a visit to the Russian netlabel Otium where you can find the more recent episodes in this series.

gterma listeners can also look forward to a passage from Sulphur part IV on the up and coming Phra Rahu compilation.

Signs of Life...

It is time for our first release of the year, the charming and deep adventure of "Tanuki Dreams". Follow Timothy Gray and the restless Tanuki creature as they dive through recordings made in the years between 2008 and 2012. The Phra Rahu compilation which was originally scheduled to be out by now is currently facing some delays and will unfortunately not be available during the total lunar eclipse which will descend upon us this April. We will have to hold hands in the darkness all the same. Om Dhum Ram Rahave Namah.

http://gterma021to040.blogspot.se/p/gterma035-ethernet-tanuki-dreams.html
[gterma035] : Ethernet - Tanuki Dreams (2014-03-27)

The Tanuki is the much loved but naughty little racoon dog of Japanese lore. It invited us over to the small farmhouse where it has currently taken up residence. telling us of its many pilgrimages through forgotten and slumbering lands far away. In the same manner, we now look back on the Japanese influences on Tim Gray, perhaps better known through his Ethernet name. Nine pieces of hypnotizing and slumbering ambient with drone and dub influences. Comes in a jewel case with 16-page booklet. [gterma035] : Ethernet - Tanuki Dreams by the lost gterma

Our very own posterchild Andras -familiar to gterma listeners from the Indo and Urenga projects- has recently put together a selection of material, past and present, from his deep and dubby Urenga project. His music is being featured on the newly created Deep Electronic Podcast and I can't think of a better way to start it of.
